The name Lindfield is from the Old English meaning “open land where lime-trees grow” (linden + feld).   Lindfield is a flourishing, active, modern community, famed for its rich historic and architectural heritage. There are some beautiful villages within easy reach too, from Ditchling with its great pubs and eclectic shops, to Ardingly, home to the South of England Showground and excellent outdoor pursuit facilities at Ardingly Reservoir, and Horsted Keynes with its popular tennis and football clubs.
