Is Burgess Hill a nice place to live?

Burgess Hill is a fast-growing town, ideal for commuters, families and older residents. Located at the edge of the South Downs National Park, it’s the perfect place for anyone who wants to combine the convenience of town living with outdoor pursuits, such as cycling, horse riding, and dog walking around the fabulous countryside.

Two mainline stations – Burgess Hill and Wivelsfield – offer frequent and fast services to London, the stunning south coast, and the bohemian market town of Lewes. Burgess Hill is great for commuters as the majority of the town is within walking distance of a station. The rest of the world is also within reach, thanks to Burgess Hill’s proximity to Gatwick Airport via the A23, just a few minutes’ drive away.

There are some good schools here, both state and private. There are a fantastic range of properties to choose from too, from well-appointed modern homes to unique older properties with generous gardens and parking. The town has recently seen huge investment for housing and facilities, with a number of new developments on the horizon or currently underway.

St Johns Park, Burgess Hill Golf Centre and Plumpton Race Course are all within easy reach, while families will love Bedelands Nature Reserve and the Triangle Leisure Centre with indoor/outdoor rapids and soft play areas.

Mill Road Area

The Mill Road area is in the centre of Burgess Hill, right in between the two train stations. It’s the perfect location if you want to be within easy reach of everything that happens in the town and also need good commuter transport links. There’s an abundance of terraced and semi-detached family homes in the area and there are a few parks and play areas for children.

Folders Grove

Folders Grove is a new build development on the south east corner of the town. There are a variety of family homes available on the leafy estate, including detached, semi-detached and terraced properties. It’s a quiet and tranquil location, within easy reach of the Wintons Fishery fishing club and the Ridgeview Wine Estate.

Goddards Green

Goddards Green is a quiet hamlet to the north west side of Burgess Hill. It offers picturesque cottages and spacious family homes in stunning Sussex countryside, and also boasts a cosy pub. The area is popular with people looking for a rural way of life, with a number of ancient woods in the area, including a bluebell wood.

Ditchling

Ditchling is a peaceful village nestled in the South Downs, south of Burgess Hill. It has an artisan community of winemakers, craftspeople and artists, with a community spirit and warm, welcoming feel. There is an abundance of listed buildings in Ditchling and also more modern homes.
